How To Motivate Yourself Right Now!

How To Motivate Yourself Right Now!

written by Bryan Hutchinson

Have you ever wanted to start a project and couldn’t? Have you ever waited in vain for inspiration to strike and it didn’t? Have you ever looked at the clock to check the time and realized you wasted yet another day (or week or month) and wondered how that happened (again)?

If you’ve wondered about any of those things, you’re not alone. I’ve done all of them and more. Isn’t it depressing? Darn right it is.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. I’ve discovered a few ways to motivate myself that actually work. Maybe they’ll work for you too.

Quotes About Writing and Overcoming Doubt

Quotes About Writing and Overcoming Doubt

written by Bryan Hutchinson

If you’re a writer (or any kind of artist), the odds are you’ve struggled with doubt and I bet there have been days when it has been downright overwhelming, perhaps even enough to make you want to give in and give up.

Fear not, doubting one’s self is human nature, but (and this is a big BUT) it’s also part of human nature to overcome and triumph over one’s doubts.

YOU can do it! Yes, you can!

Three Ways Commuting Can Enhance your Creativity

Three Ways Commuting Can Enhance your Creativity

written by Nicole Gulotta

If you have a commute longer than 15 minutes, you’ve probably dreamed about living within walking distance.

Maybe you’ve added up the hours you’d save in a week if you didn’t have to drive or take the subway. Maybe you’ve resented your job for demanding even more of your time that could otherwise be spent pursuing other interests. Maybe you’d prefer to be exercising, grocery shopping, or spending time with your children instead of commuting. We’ve all been there.

But did you know that there’s a silver lining to commuting?

Why All Creative People Absolutely Should Travel to Paris

Why All Creative People Absolutely Should Travel to Paris

written by Bryan Hutchinson

“A walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty, and in the point of Life.”

Thomas Jefferson

I thought I knew who I was creatively before visiting Paris, but when I arrived there the first time, a little over ten years ago, I soon realized I didn’t have a clue.

The City of Light “La Ville-Lumière” is unparalleled for the creatively inclined, and once you’ve visited, you will leave forever changed. It refined my sense of purpose, ignited my true passion for creating, and changed how I interpret art.

Creative Flow: How to Silence Negative Voices and Write

Creative Flow: How to Silence Negative Voices and Write

written by Guest Post
From Bryan: This is a guest post by Josh Irby. Josh is a writer who lives in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina with his wife and four children. For more than a decade he has worked with university students, helping them tell better stories with their lives. If you come to Sarajevo, you will likely find him in the corner of a local café sipping a macchiato and talking with friends. Visit Josh’s blog www.joshirby.com

My children are inquisitive. When I am driving they ask at least one question per minute. Sometimes, their questions come so quickly and loudly I cannot hear my own thoughts.

I feel like my brain is being hijacked.

Often, when I sit down to write, I feel the same way. I try to engage my mind with the world of words but my mind is under new management. I am no longer in control.

Creative Flow: There is Magic in Asking Yourself The Right Questions

Creative Flow: There is Magic in Asking Yourself The Right Questions

written by Bryan Hutchinson

The wrong questions will destroy your power to create, but the right questions will fill you with inspiration, encouragement and motivation to create work that will blow you (and others) away!

Am I good enough? Do I suck? Should I give up? Will I ever create work that matters? Why can’t I ____? (Fill in the blank.)

Those are the wrong questions. Do you want to free yourself from doubt and create work that matters? Then you need to ask yourself the right questions.

Creative Flow: 8 Reasons Why Procrastinating is Better than Working

written by Bryan Hutchinson

Don’t you hate wasting time? You need to get to it and do the work.
