Dear Brian, thanks for sharing this post. I loved it. I have been journaling for more than thirty years and I have seen many of your statement as truths in my life. When I am slumping in inspiration I often go back to one of my journals and spend some time rereading something I wrote there months , or years ago, and that somehow something jumps out and infuses me with courage to keep on ‘keeping on’. That often triggers a new thought that takes off, and my blog post gets written, or that poem I’d been fussing about takes on form. I love my journal time. I know you have enspirred and encouraged many others too, through this post! Thank you.

Bryan, Thank you for this uplifting post. I have been journaling daily for several years. I head each entry with the day, date and time, and I number the pages. I am on page 6394. I want to create an index, but that is daunting. I will have to work on it a little at a time. I have invested in some beautiful leather journals and handcrafted pens, and do all of the writing by hand. Sometimes I find an image or quote online which I print and paste into my journal and then write about what it means for me. Often an issue will resolve as I am writing. I am grateful for the gifts of writing, introspection, insight and epiphany granted to me. Writing, especially journaling, contributes, immeasurably, to my life.

I love this Bryan. And I love the ways that keeping a journal inwardly benefits our lives, so we can outwardly benefit others around us.

I feel when I keep a journal-especially when writing down what I’m grateful-that my brain is so much clearer throughout the day. I’m just much more alert because I’ve gotten those rattling thoughts out onto the page and as a result can open myself to the new experiences that the endless opportunities around us promote to us every day.

I especially love journaling at night. It’s a great way to review the day and focus on the good I did, rather than fixate on all the negatives or the setbacks.
