I’ve also found many similarities in your article that resonates with writing fiction as well. My first novel was more autobiographical in a sense (if you take away the magic and fantasy, lol) . I used my writing as an outlet. Unfortunately It was darker and very difficult to write because of that. Since then I’ve changed direction three times before I finally found a medium that I both enjoy to write and is fun to write.

Often beginning writers want to pore over every detail but it’s important, as you explain, to know what is likely to be of general interest to readers and what most likely won’t.
