I just read “Good Enough” and sent you one of those thank-you e-mails before reading this post. I’ve been writing forever and over the past year been taking tons of on-line entrepreneur courses but just yesterday got the bright idea to find the best writing blogs. And I’m in writer’s heaven. You’ve shared priceless information and advice and I love the infographic. I’ve put the “late” in Late bloomer – but I’m feeling 16 again and that any and everything is possible – specifically a life of writing. Thanks for your inspiration and information.

Hi Bryan!! What absolutely encouraging words. I have recently written and published a mystery novel called “Breaking all the Rules” and have received some very positive comments from the readers. The negatives have come from a professional who referred to my “breaking the rules” of writing. However, that is the double entendre inherent in the title. My anti-hero as well as many others in the book would have fared much better if they had not broken so many of life’s rules. I wrote the book from my heart in a sassy, fun, unusual manner. I wanted it to be fun for the reader to read, as well as a great story. Not having much money ( a retired retailer) I haven’t invested a lot of money in promotion or publication, but I am working on my next novel. I have received new hope from your article and I will not give up on this fun second career of mine. I have a book signing scheduled as we speak and am brave and strong and I hope talented and clever enough to keep on writing away.

Great post Bryan. I love the encouragement you provide by hitting on the things writers struggle with. Found a lot of great suggestions in here. I cannot stop writing and I’ve been going at it full-force. Right now I finished writing a children’s book about a little blues guitar who listens to everyone else and starts wondering if he should stop playing the blues. It’s called Sonny Follows His Heart. I used my husband’s colorful funky drawings he made using computer mouse! And in the present I finished two Children’s books of poetry with Jessica’s illustrations this time being her photographs. It’s called Make Believe Volume one and Volume two. And lest you think that’s all I’m working on, it isn’t. I love the variety that I’m doing right now.

Great suggestions, Bryan. I do think it’s fascinating that your two most popular books were “spur of the moment.” We can overthink, over-research and over-write. Sometimes, when we just trust our intuition, write then share, people connect with us on a gut level because our words SPEAK to them.
